| Sharks - Show Of Hands A timeless, widescreen rock ‘n’ roll sound Posted Tuesday, 19 October 2010 Rating: 8 Hailing from the small Midlands town of Leamington Spa, Sharks are amongst the most unassuming of today’s crop of fast-rising young British acts. Somewhat fittingly, ‘Show Of Hands’, their first ‘official’ EP following 09’s self-released ‘Shallow Waters’, has nothing to do with the instantly gratifying, yet rather transient thrills offered by their peers. Instead, Sharks have opted for a timeless, widescreen rock ‘n’ roll sound which, whilst harking back to decades past, also manages to sound impressively refreshing. Writing with thoughtfulness, maturity and skill belying their youthful status, Sharks have quietly put together perhaps the most charming debut of the year.
