Show Of Hands, Sharks

The past year has seen SHARKS achieve the title of ‘support whores’ opening for the likes of Gallows, Ghost of a Thousand, The King Blues and The Gaslight Anthem (to name a few). It is now time for the punk rock quartet to take the industry into their own hands and climb the ladder of success; and what other way to get your music heard than to release a five-track E.P. entitled ‘Show of Hands’.

Originating from a pocket-sized town known as Leamington Spa, Sharks are not to be taken lightly as they burst onto the music scene with a unique blend of revolutionary integration. So, raise your hands if you like what you hear as you instantly discover an eclectic mix of influences starting with the raw attitude of 70s punk and finishing with the refreshing rhythm of rock ‘n’ roll. Primarily, the E.P. sounds like a tribute to The Clash as domination of Strummer-inspired vocals grab you within seconds. It’s not until the tenacious charge of guitars and backing vocals enter that you experience the chemistry and individual sound of the band. Throw in some stimulating drum fills and a decent producer and you’ve ticked all the boxes to be noticed.

Embracing the D.I.Y. attitude of their motivational leaders (Buzzcocks, Joy Division, etc), the maturity and drive of the band stands out with clarity, allowing Sharks to deliver one of 2010s most solid catalogue of recordings.
